Passage Psychiatry · ADHD
Many adults with ADHD spend years struggling with restlessness, forgetfulness, difficulties concentrating or feeling overwhelmed, without fully understanding why. A thorough assessment can help provide clarity, a better understanding of your difficulties, and a path towards the right support and treatment.

In adults, ADHD does not always present as obvious hyperactivity. Instead, it may involve inner restlessness, difficulties with concentration, organisation and time management, or a sense that everyday life requires far more effort than it seems to for others. Many adults have developed strategies to compensate for these difficulties over the years, sometimes without recognising the underlying cause. However, increasing demands at work, during studies or in family life can make these challenges harder to manage.
I am a specialist in psychiatry with clinical experience dating back to 2008 and previously worked as a consultant psychiatrist at Aarhus University Hospital. I provide comprehensive assessments for adult ADHD, including presentations with predominantly inattentive symptoms (often referred to as ADD). As part of the assessment, I use DIVA-5, an internationally recognised, structured diagnostic interview for ADHD in adults.
Does This Sound Familiar?
ADHD can present differently from person to person, and not everyone experiences the same difficulties. Common signs include:
For an ADHD diagnosis, symptoms must have been present since childhood and cause significant difficulties in everyday life. A thorough assessment also considers whether these difficulties might be better explained by other conditions.
The assessment
The assessment consists of three consultations, allowing time for a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, personal history and everyday functioning. This ensures that the diagnostic conclusion is based on a comprehensive clinical assessment.
After the assessment
If your assessment confirms a diagnosis of ADHD, you can continue treatment with me. Before starting medication, blood tests and an ECG will be arranged to ensure that treatment can be initiated safely.
Medication is introduced at a low dose and adjusted gradually according to your response and any side effects. During this period, we will have regular follow-up consultations to monitor your progress and optimise your treatment. You should expect at least 4–5 consultations during the medication adjustment phase.
Once an effective and well-tolerated dose has been established, your treatment will continue to be monitored. In line with current Danish guidelines, the initial treatment course is generally completed after you have been stable on medication for at least three months.
